From R. V. Belt (Acting Commissioner). Replies to the question of an Indian Agent for the Coahuilla Reservation placing one Williams as chief of the tribe, deposing Cabazon. States that agent reports that Cabazon was deposed by the Indians themselves by majority vote. Confirms that the agent requested that the Secretary of War arrest William Pablo and confine him to prevent intrusion in federal affairs. Confirms that a letter from Horatio Rust calls upon the U.S. marshal to arrest and confine William Pablo and Chief Cabazon. (June 2, 1892)

From R. V. Belt (Acting Commissioner). Forwards copy of letter in which Horatio Rust requests the arrest and confinement of William Pablo and Chief Cabazon "until they would quietly submit to proper authority, and stop their aspirations to be chiefs." Forwards a news article claiming wrongful conduct on part of Rust in connection with the rental of Pablo's land. Recommends that both Rust and his claims be investigated. (May 26, 1892)
