Collection includes letters to Cunha from Donald Tresidder and Mary Curry Tresidder, 1948-50; letter of reference for Cunha by Donald Tresidder, 1948; letter to Henry R. Luce from Mary C. Tresidder about Cunha and Luce’s response, 1949; one photograph of Donald Tresidder and two photos of Cunha, 1949 and undated; notice from Stanford of Cunha’s rank after taking college aptitude test, 1941; Stanford commencement program, 1946; and the Spring 1991 issue of SANDSTONE AND TILE which includes an article on Donald B. Tresdder, based in part on an interview with Irma Cunha.
Background
Irma Cunha earned her AB at Stanford University in 1944 and her MA in 1946. During her senior year as editor of the student newspaper, she often had contact with Stanford’s president, Donald B. Tresidder. When she returned to pursue her MA, the Tresidders offered her the opportunity of living in their campus home.
