Description
The Peter Black Collection brings together articles and documents reflecting the environmental and political issues surrounding Redwood National Park's creation (1968) and expansion (1978)in Humboldt and Del Norte counties, California.
Background
Dr. Peter Black became involved with the establishment of Redwood National Park while he was an Assistant Professor of Forestry at Humboldt State University (then Humboldt State College) from 1961-1965. Under contract with the National Park Service Dr. Black wrote "Climate, Soils, and Hydrology of the Redwood Region". His involvement with the park continued until its expansion in 1978.
