Historical Note
The Special Operations Branch of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) was established in January 1942. Authorized by the
OSS to conduct undercover operations in support of planned military operations, agents of the Western Europe Section of the
Special Operations Branch mainly served in German-occupied France.
Scope and Content of Collection
Reports related to sabotage and resistance liaison activities in German-occupied France of agents of the Western Europe Section
of the Special Operations Branch of the Office of Strategic Services.
Individual reports contain agents' descriptions of activities in the field. Some folders also include complete mission reports,
maps of operational areas and photographs taken in the field. The original documents in boxes 1-3 are closed; use copies are
available in boxes 4-5.
