    Collection Scope and Content Summary

Ramon Muñoz was a founding member of the La Raza Association (LRA), a staff organization founded in the early 1970s that coordinated Chicano activities at UC Irvine. In 1996 the organization disbanded after California's Proposition 209 passed, effectively eliminating state and local government affirmative action programs and ending preferences based on race or sex in public hiring, the awarding of contracts, and college admissions. This collection includes material assembled by Muñoz during his involvement with LRA.
