Abstract: Monroe Edwin Price (1938- ) was the editorial assistant for American Heritage Publishing Company (1960-61), law clerk to associate justice Potter Stewart of the Supreme Court (1964-65), special assistant to the Labor Department secretary (1965-66), professor at the UCLA School of Law (1967-84) and in 1982, dean of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University. He also served as the deputy director for California Indian Legal Services (1968-77). The collection consists of prison publications, articles, and correspondence related to Price's research on prison inmate publications. Also includes student papers from a class he taught at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Biography

Price was born on August 18, 1938 in Vienna, Austria; came to the U.S. in the following year; BA (1960) and LL.B (1964), Yale University; editorial assistant for American Heritage Publishing Company (1960-61), law clerk to associate justice Potter Stewart, Supreme Court (1964-65), special assistant to the Labor Department secretary (1965-66); professor, UCLA School of Law (1967-84) and in 1982, dean, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University; counsel, Munger Tolles and Rickershauser, Los Angeles, 1980-84; consultant for the Rand Corporation (1972-73) and the OEO (1968-70); deputy director, California Indian Legal Services, Los Angeles, 1968-77; publications include Law and the American Indian (1982) and Shattered mirrors: our search for identity and community in the AIDS era (c. 1989).

Collection consists of prison publications, articles, and correspondence related to Price's research on prison inmate publications. Also includes student papers from a class he taught at the University of California, Los Angeles.
