Scope and Content Note

Reapportionment hearing files created by the Senate Elections, Reapportionment, and Constitutional Amendments Committee include hearing transcripts, testimony, correspondence, and committee working papers. Reapportionment and redistricting hearings were held at various stages of the redistricting process to promote the process and engender public comment. Researchers should note that hearing recordings, including audio and video cassettes, CDs, and DVDs have been removed to cold storage; separation sheets are included within the relevant file folders indicating this. Researchers should also consult the hearing files as there is some overlap between the two series. Usually when there is overlap the hearing transcript appears in the Hearing series and other background information can be found in the Reapportionment Hearing series.
