Biography / Administrative History
Myron Angel (1827-1911) was a pioneer, journalist and author who traveled the west, settling in California and Nevada. He
edited Thompson and West's History of Nevada and wrote, with the assistance of M.D. Fairchild, The History of Placer County(1882),
The History of San Luis Obispo County(1883) and The History of Tulare County(1891). He is also attributed to be the driving
force behind the founding of California Polytechnic School in San Luis Obispo.

Scope and Content of Collection
A four page, handwritten letter from Myron Angel addressed to the Society of California Pioneers' president W.W. Hobart in
appreciation for his re-admittance into the Society of California Pioneers. The letter, dated September 24, 1906,also provides
Mr. Hobart with an account of Mr. Angel's life and work during the years prior to the date of the letter and gives the names
of newspapers he worked for as well as titles of books he authored.
