    Scope and Content of Collection

    One lengthy eight-page Civil War letter (ALS) from J. D. McCord to his cousin, Mrs. R. A. Newton of Albany, NY, re recent engagements, including a Rebel ambush near Falmouth, Virginia. Also says he has been a butcher the last few months and thinks he is serving the Army just as well by providing food as by killing the enemy. Falmouth, Virginia, 4 May 1862.
