Abstract: The Council for the Study of Mankind was an organization based in Santa Monica, California, made up of educators and scholars
and associated with civic, professional and business leaders. Their intent was to further understanding to find solutions
for the problems facing mankind. The collection consists of correspondence, papers, and printed materials of Gerhard Hirschfeld,
John I. Goodlad, and others. Also includes tape recordings, transcripts of lectures, bulletins, card index mailing lists,
book collection, committee proceedings, audiotapes, cassette tapes, periodicals, and a motion picture film titled,
Wingspread: History of Mankind.
