The original photographs were loaned to the San Francisco
Maritime National Historical Park in 2001 for duplication by
Elizabeth Laflin Gawf, great granddaughter of James
Laflin.

James Laflin, a shipping agent who acquired crews for San
Francisco ships, conducted business from ca. 1850 to 1890. His son, Peter
J. Laflin, occasionally carried on the trade.
The collection consists of 15 copy negatives of the Laflin
family made from original ambrotypes, tintypes, and albumens.
