    Biographical Note

    Lechoslaw (Leszek) Gawlikowski was born on June 13, 1946 in Poland. He graduated with an MA from the Szkoła Główna Planowania i Statystyki (Warsaw School of Economics). As a student, he worked at the Polish Students Association in Warsaw, and after graduation, as a member of the editorial Board of the Young Cinema and Theatre quarterly in Prague, as well as the cultural editor for the publications of the International Union of Students. Since 1972, he has lived in the Federal Republic of Germany, joining the Polish Broadcasting Department of the Radio Free Europe in Munich as an editor trainee, the editor at the Polish Newsroom, economic editor, and Assistant Director and Deputy Director of the Polish Broadcasting Department from 1988 to 1994. He also served as a Senior Advisor for the Archives of the RFE/RL Inc. from 1995 to 2010.
