Feminist author Catherine MacKinnon explores the relationship between feminism and learning specifically between feminism and the university. She also addresses topics such as the nature and quality of schooling, the condition of women in society, the nature of "feminist identity" and the history and future of the women's movement. She also examines the implications of feminism, both on a societal and a personal level.

Panelists Barbara Gelpi and Estelle Freedman, professors at Stanford University, are joined by Betty Parent, head of American Indian Studies at San Francisco State University in discussing their identity as feminists in the role of university professors. Moderator Rosanne Quinn poses questions relating to the meaning of "oppression", the relatively "privileged" status of university professor, and practical things teachers and students can bring to the classroom in order to make it a "safe" place for thinking. Includes audience participation and sharing of feminist experiences.

An informal workshop, led by Sherri Matteo, visiting professor in the Dept. of Psychology, Stanford University, and featuring two Stanford speakers, doctoral student Pam Ward and Patricia Polhemus, assistant dean and Director of Residential Education. Topics discussed cover a broad range of women's issues relating to academia, including harassment and discrimination, stress, single-parent students, child-care, undergraduate pregnancy, gay and lesbian housing, integration of families into the university community and disincentives for women in academia.
