Abstract: John B. Harmon (1822-1897) practiced law in Sacramento and Virginia City, Nevada. In 1864, he moved to San Francisco where
he was associated with P.G. Galpin, Moriss M. Estee and D.P. Belknap. The collection consists of correspondence and legal
papers relating to Harmon's law practice in Sacramento, Virginia City, Nevada, and San Francisco.

Biography
Harmon was born in 1822 in Ohio; graduated from Yale University; admitted to Ohio bar; practiced law in New Orleans, then
went to California in 1853 with Milton S. Latham; they were law partners for several years in Sacramento, and Harmon also
practiced in Virginia City, Nevada; in 1864 moved to San Francisco, where he was associated with P.G. Galpin, Moriss M. Estee
and D.P. Belknap; died in February, 1897 in Berkeley, California.
Biographical Narrative
John B. Harmon, 1822-1897, was born in Ohio. He was admitted to the bar in that state after graduating from Yale College.
His earliest practice was in New Orleans from which city he came to California in 1853 in company with Milton S. Latham. He
and Latham were partners in Sacramento for several years and he also practiced in Virginia City, Nevada. In 1864 he came to
San Francisco, and was associated there with P.G. Galpin, Moriss M. Estee and D.P. Belkmap. He died at his
home in. Berkeley in February, 1897. A biographical sketch of Harmon, from which the above information was taken, appears
