    Biography

Motion picture posters have been used to publicize movies almost since the beginning of the film industry. Poster designs have become permanently associated with the films they promote, often acting as symbols of the films for collective memory. Frequently film posters outlive thier intended marketing purpose and assume the role of iconic images in film history and culture at large. (Based on: The origin and development of the American moving picture poster by Gary Don Rhodes; Film History: An International Journal, Volume 19, Number 3, 2007)
