Description
Army discharge papers issued to John Callaghan, a private formerly of Monaghan, Ireland, under the command of Captain James van Voast in Company K of the 9th Regiment of Infantry. His enlistment date was November 20th, 1856 and the reason for his discharge was the expiration of his five-year term of service. A physical description of Callaghan is also provided. His occupation at the time of enlistment is given as "file culler" (?).
