Biographical/Historical note

Charles D. Marx was professor of civil engineering at Stanford University from its founding in 1891 to his retirement in 1923. After his retirement he was a consultant on many engineering projects, including serving on the technical board of the San Francisco-Alameda County Bridge Commission.

Scope and Contents note

Collection pertains to the construction of a bridge from San Francisco to Oakland. Included are correspondence, memoranda, and reports of the San Francisco-Alameda County Bridge Commission, 1926, along with one sketch; and memoranda, minutes of meetings, and reports of boring operations, 1929-1930, of the San Francisco Bay Bridge Commission.
