Collection pertains to the construction of a bridge from San Francisco to Oakland. Included are correspondence, memoranda,
and reports of the San Francisco-Alameda County Bridge Commission, 1926, along with one sketch; and memoranda, minutes of
meetings, and reports of boring operations, 1929-1930, of the San Francisco Bay Bridge Commission.
Charles D. Marx was professor of civil engineering at Stanford University from its founding in 1891 to his retirement in 1923.
After his retirement he was a consultant on many engineering projects, including serving on the technical board of the San
Francisco-Alameda County Bridge Commission.
