Description
The collection comprises the budgets and supporting financial documentation of the various programs and services managed by
the office of the Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs at University of California, Irvine (UCI). The Office of the Vice Chancellor,
Student Affairs provides students with a broad range of programs and services such as the UCI Bookstore, career planning and
placement, counseling, disability services, student activities, student government, student health, and other student support
services. The records are arranged chronologically.
Background
From the time the University of California, Irvine campus opened in 1965, the office of Student Affairs was charged with coordinating
all student services provided by the university. The office provided students with services such as registration and admissions,
housing and food services, financial aid, student health, and personal counseling. By 1966 the Dean of Students, the Coordinator
of Academic Advising, the Foreign Student Advisor, and the Director of Student Activities had been added to the supervisory
responsibilities of Student Affairs.
