Abstract: Small collection of audio recordings of Creole speech and song collected or recorded by linguist David DeCamp in Jamaica and Belize.

Biographical / Historical

DeCamp was an American linguist, particularly interested in Pidgins and Creoles. He taught at the University of Texas at Austin from 1959 until his untimely death in 1979.

Scope and Contents

The Jamaican Creole tape recordings is a collection of songs, stories and interviews recorded by the American linguist David DeCamp from 1957-1959. These recordings document DeCamp's research interests in the Pidgins and Creoles of Jamaica and British Honduras.
