    Historical Background

    Founded in 1982, the Elections Committee of the County of Orange is a nonpartisan political action committee that monitors legislative issues that affecting the Southern California lesbian and gay community. It works to end discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, or HIV / AIDS status. Its concerns also include marriage rights, the "right to choose," and women's health care. ECCO is a non-profit organization run by volunteers and governed by a board of directors.
    Thomas J. Peterson was on the board of directors for ECCO and editor of the organization's newsletter, 120+ Reporter.
