USC's Youth Studies Center was founded in 1958 with a five year grant from the Ford Foundation. Its mission was to discover
creative means by which to cope with the increasing problems of youth. In 1963, the Ford Foundation awarded a second grant
with the stipulation that USC maintain the Center as a permanent campus institution. It was eventually incorporated into the
Public Systems Research Institute of the Department of Sociology, and ceased activity in 1998.
This small collection documents the activities of USC's Youth Studies Center. Included are Advisory Council meeting minutes,
reports created and published by the Center, brochures and pamphlets documenting Center projects, correspondence, grant applications,
and lists of projects and affiliated faculty.
