Also includes images of fire department equipment and technical diagrams of equipment not classified as "Apparatus". Activities of paramedics are pictured, including the first paramedics in the 1920s performing CPR with early equipment. Also documents the activities of the Search and Rescue team. Includes images of aviation, such as images of Daugherty's air field in the 1920s, and images of plane and helicopter crashes from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. Also includes images of private water systems installed by oil companies at their oil fields which served to aid in fire prevention activities there. Also includes some images of fire departments other than the Long Beach Fire Department. Finally, includes images unrelated to the Long Beach Fire Department. This series contains several images documenting life in the city of Long Beach and Los Angeles in the early 20th century, and also includes a group of images taken on Catalina Island during the turn of the century, as well as images of early 20th century people, commercial life, and residential life. It also gives a view of the evolution of the city of Long Beach, including early images of the Pike, the Long Beach Pier, and the Queen Mary. Also, a large group of images documenting the damage caused by the March 10, 1933 earthquake in both the city of Long Beach and the city of Compton. There are also a few images documenting the only flight of the Spruce Goose by Howard Hughes which took place in the city of Long Beach. Finally, there are some images of the Miss Universe pageant which took place in the city of Long Beach in 1956 and 1957. During the 1956 pageant, fire fighters were assigned to escort the contestants around the city.
