Series 2  Fanchon & Marco "Ideas" ca. 1920-1930s

Series Scope and Content Summary

This series contains photographs of Fanchon & Marco "Ideas" sets. The titles come from information on the back of the photographs.
Fanny (Fanchon) Wolff and Mike (Marco) Wolff were a sister and brother ballroom dance team from the 1920-1930s. They operated a professinal dance school in Los Angeles and were trained dance teachers and dancers in acrobatics, tap dance, adagio and chorus line work. Fancho & Marco were also tied to the Paramount Theatre in Los Angeles, where they had a chorus line called 'The Fanchonettes', similar to the 'Rockettes' at Radio City Music Hall in New York. They also had five separate groups of Fanchon & Marco Girls that would rotate between Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver B.C. where they performed in the vaudeville stage productions.

Series 5  Monrovia Feature Film Company, Monrovia, CA. ca. 1915-1920

Physical Description: 1 folder, 4 photographs 8 x 10

Series Scope and Content Summary

The Monrovia Feature Film company was the first motion picture company started in Monrovia, Ca. in 1915. The company made two pictures, The Argonauts of '49' and The Daughters of the Don. Unfortunately, the company did not prosper, the investors lost their money and the company closed. The photos, stamped with the Monrovia Feature Film Company logo, appear to come from one or the other of the films.
