Biographical/Historical Sketch
Professor emeritus of Applied Mechanics, Flügge first came to Stanford University in
1948. He held a Fulbright Scholarship during the 1966-67 academic year and in 1970 was
awarded the Theodore V. Karman Medal by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
