Arrangement

Arranged chronologically, from general to specific dates.

Scope and Content Note

Photographs of Edmund G. Brown’s career as a District Attorney, Attorney General and Governor of California, and later public career. These images cover his political campaigns, public appearances, speaking engagements, conferences, outings and parties that seem to be in the public eye. Bulk of the images are of Pat Brown during his two terms as Governor of California, the election campaigns leading to the governorship, and of Edmund G. “Pat” Brown Institute of Public Affairs conferences. Includes press photos, and some snapshots, of Brown meeting with political figures, signing bills, visiting constituents and traveling to various events in California. Also includes group portraits of colleagues, and large birthday galas held for Edmund G. Brown later in his life. Some event images are not clearly public or private. In ambiguous cases, the images were filed here with material pertaining to his career.
