Biography

Thomas S. Kerrigan was born on March 15, 1939 in Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of California at Berkeley and Loyola University Law School in Los Angeles, being admitted to the bar in 1965. In the late 1960s, his abiding interest in poetry led him to create the literary journal Hierophant, which he edited and published. During the few years he was actively involved in publishing Hierophant, he corresponded with numerous poets and writers, such as Charles Bukowski, Robert Creeley, Hugh Fox, Thom Gunn, Lee Mallory, and Jacques Prevert.
Kerrigan is also the author of many poems and plays. His poetry has been published in several well-known journals in America and abroad. Inevitable Press published a collection of his poems as Another Bloomsday at Molly Malone's Pub (1999). He has seen his plays produced, including Branches Among the Stars (1990), and has been active in the Los Angeles theater scene, having served as a member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre's board of directors and as a member of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle. In addition to his work as a theater critic, he continues his law practice, and has successfully argued a case before the United States Supreme Court.
