    Scope and Content Notes

    The collection contains files relating to Michael Young Warder's participation in the Unification Church, mainly as president and publisher of its New York based newspaper News World. Included are files relating to various activities of the church, its leader Sun Myung Moon, and legal issues such as the investigation of its tax exempt status.

    Arrangement

    The collection contains the following series:
    • Alpha Files (Boxes 1-7). Includes material on Barrytown Project, Congressional Inquiry, Diplomat National Bank, Holy Spirit Association for Unification of World Christianity (HSA-UWC), IRS, International Conference on the Unity of the Sciences (ICUS), International Cultural Foundation (ICF), International Leadership Seminar (ILS), Korean Culture and Freedom Foundation (KCFF), Sun Myung Moon (materials about and by, incl. run of Master Speaks), News World, Unification Church (material about and by), Unification Theological Seminary (UTS), U.S. Grand Jury, S.D.N.Y. (Southern District of New York), Michael Warder (mainly activities with the Unification Church, including resignation in 1979, and some personal), and World Media Conference.
    • Correspondence Files (Box 8). Correspondents include Asa Briggs, William F. Buckley, James [Jimmy] Carter, Roy M. Cohn, Mario Cuomo, Oscar Handlin, Edward Koch, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Michael Novak, James Reston, Howard K. Smith, Lowell Thomas, William Webster, and George F. Will.
    • Photographs (Boxes 9-10). Includes black/white and color prints of events/places (ICUS, ICF, International Conference on the Unity of Sciences, International Leadership Seminar World Media Conference), Rev. Moon and family, News World, people, public officials and celebrities, Michael Warder and family, and World Media Conference.
    • Oversize (Boxes 11-16). Includes photograph albums (World Media Conference), scrapbooks (International Conference on the Unity of Sciences, International Leadership Seminar, News World, Unification Church, Warder, World Media Conference) and loose materials such as posters.
    • Audiovisual (4 audiocassettes, 4 16mm films, 1 VHS videotape). Includes Master Speaks [Moon] at Apr. 4, 1973 conference.
    Monographs and runs of serials in the collection have been removed and cataloged separately.
