Organizational History
Americans for Nonsmokers' Rights ("ANR"), formed in 1976, was originally Californians for Nonsmokers' Rights of Berkeley,
California. The only national lobbying organization in the United States that advocates nonsmokers' rights, ANR focuses on
secondhand-smoke issues, whether in the workplace, at school, or at home. As a nonprofit educational membership organization,
ANR develops programs for school-age children, especially its "Teens as Teachers" (TAT) curriculum, in which teenage youth
teach younger children. Their mission, history and programs are described on their Web site at
"http://www.no-smoke.org/"
Scope and Content of Collection
This collection is comprised of curriculum and other educational and resource materials received by the Americans for Nonsmokers'

publications. Tobacco education curricula for K-12 children include manuals, guides, workbooks, copy masters and videotapes.
Other materials and resources include cessation materials, a guide to tobacco control resources, policy manuals for schools
and workplaces, reports, journals and books relating to tobacco control. Subjects covered include tobacco use and abuse, drug
use in genenral, and related topics. All materials are in English, with some in both English and Spanish. All items originated
in the United States, except for one book from the United Kingdom.
Arrangement
Division is into two series: Curriculum Materials for K-12, and Other Educational Materials and Resources. Arrangement is
alphabetical by title of item. The accompanying 23 videotapes were transferred to TCA Videos, MSS 2000-28, but reference is
