Biographical / Historical
Gerald (Jerry) J. Veverka was born in Chicago on March 4, 1941. He attended the University of Illinois where he graduated
and went on to work for several Midwestern firms before moving to San Francisco in 1968. After 13 years of practicing in San
Francisco, Veverka returned to graduate school earning a Master of Architecture degree from UC Berkeley, and then he taught
for three years at California Polytechnic State University. In 1980 Veverka returned to San Francisco, where he worked on
managing several large office park projects as an Associate at MBT Associates. Six years later, in 1985, he began his private
practice, primarily designing residential and commercial projects in and around the Bay Area. During this time, Veverka also
taught perspective drawing through UC Extension. He passed away in April of 2014.
Scope and Contents
This collection documents six residential projects designed by Veverka, during the time he worked with architect Henry Hill
(Farm West III residence) as well as during the time he ran his own independent architecture practice in San Francisco. Materials
date from 1979 to 2003, span 2 cubic feet and are organized by project. Documents include: architectural drawings and sketches,
correspondence, photographs, specifications, mechanical calculations, magazine and newspaper clippings, and one model.
