    Immediate Source of Acquisition

    Materials in the collection were transferred to Special Collections and University Archives by the Office of Investment Management on June 3, 2013, and by Heidi Jaeger on December 11, 2013.

    Biographical Note

    Gavin MacLeod was born on February 28, 1931, as Allan George See in Mount Kisco, New York, the older of two children. MacLeod grew up in Pleasantville, New York, and studied acting at Ithaca College, graduating in 1952. After serving in the Air Force, MacLeod moved to New York City and found a job at Radio City Music Hall while looking for acting work. He changed his name while in New York City, drawing "Gavin" from a cerebral palsy victim in a TV drama, and "MacLeod" from his Ithaca drama coach, Beatrice MacLeod. MacLeod was nominated for five Academy Awards and is known for his roles in The Love Boat, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, McHale's Navy, and Kelly's Heroes.

    Scope and Content

    The collection includes television scripts from Easy Street, The Love Boat, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and the movie script You Take the High Road, all of which Gavin MacLeod acted in. The scripts range in date from 1970 to 1981.

    Arrangement

    This collection is arranged in the following four series: 1. Easy Street; 2. The Love Boat; 3. The Mary Tyler Moore Show; and 4. You Take the High Road. Within each series, episodes are arranged by air date unless otherwise noted.
