Series Scope and Content Summary

Outgoing correspondence written during the time Harcleroad served as President of the University makes up the bulk of the collection. The materials chiefly consist of typed copies of budget tables, promotion announcements, interdepartmental communications, Thank You letters, and various other correspondences. Fred Harcleroad's Presidency spanned from 1959 to 1966 and included the development of the University, its programs, and its current campus in the Hayward Hills.

Series Scope and Content Summary

The Papers series contains the miscellaneous letters, booklets, speeches, and papers which did not fit into the other series. The letters are from Fred Harcleroad's friends and acquaintances congratulating him on his appointment to the Presidency as well as letters commiserating with him on his dismissal. Speeches written by Fred Harcleroad are also in this series and include typed copies as well as hand-written note cards from a variety of different occasions. Copies of booklets and articles written by Fred Harcleroad are in this series, as well as other articles of interest to him.

Series Scope and Content Summary

The scrapbooks contain photographs of Fred Harcleroad during his time at CSU Hayward and provide first views of the Hayward Campus’s construction, student life, and newspaper clippings of the university’s progress under President Harcleroad. Scrapbooks scanned in 2010. Copy of Campus News from June 7, 1961 has been separated from scrapbook and placed in OVZ 1.
