The Placer County Archives maintains a variety of local newspaper publications spanning from 1852 with the first issue of the Placer Herald, to present issues of the Auburn Journal which are collected monthly on microfilm. No date ranges are fully inclusive. Publications span a variety of perspectives and relate to several communities in Placer County. Publications in this collection include: Auburn Journal, Colfax Record, Colfax Sentinel, Dutch Flat Enquirer, Dutch Flat Forum, Lincoln News Messenger, Newcastle News, Placer Argus, Placer County Leader, Placer County Republican, Placer Democrat, Placer Herald, Placer Press, Placer Representative, Placer Times, Republican Argus, Roseville Press Tribune, Roseville Register, Stars and Stripes, and the Union Advocate.

Collection is open for research by appointment. To assist researchers, pdf indexes to the Placer Herald and Placer Argus newspapers are available and accessed through the linked files. Email requests for images will be answered in the order they are received and typical response time is two weeks. Microfilm readers are available on site. Appointment times are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 9-3.
