Jay Paley house (Los Angeles, Calif.) 1935-1936

Scope and Content note

One flat file folder containing two original drawings of the east and west elevations. The landscape was designed by Edward Huntsman-Trout, who worked with Williams to design a pool and pool house for Paley, circa 1932. After this successful commission, Paley asked Williams to design the house, 1935-1936. Jay Paley occupied the house, located at 1060 Brooklawn Dr, in Holmby Hills, until his death, when it was sold to Barron Hilton.

Five architectural drawings on boards, all undated, although each presentation drawing is a distinct residence. Two of the five boards feature presentation drawings without a floor plan, these drawings were later included in Williams’ publication New Homes for Today. The three remaining boards feature both a presentation drawing and a floor plan, these drawings are not included in the published version of New Homes for Today but could have been included in a preliminary draft.
