Los Angeles Times and the
San Francisco Examiner, circa 1885. The majority of articles are written by Charles Fletcher Lummis and are accounts of his "Tramp Across the Continent"
from 1884-1885.
Background
Charles Fletcher Lummis (1859-1928) began his famed cross-country trek on September 12, 1884. He walked west from Cincinnati,
Ohio to Los Angeles, California covering 3,507 miles in 143 days.
