    Biographical/Historical note

    Louis Curtiss was born in 1865 in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. He studied architecture in Canada at the University of Toronto and in Paris before relocating to Kansas City in 1887. Out of school, Curtiss found work as a draftsman for the architect Adriance Van Brunt and later joined a partnership with Frederick C. Gunn in 1889, which dissolved ten years later. Curtiss then went on to open his own firm in Kansas City, Missouri which he operated until his death in 1924.

    Scope and Content note

    The Louis Curtiss drawings of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad Co. Hotel consists of 12 architectural drawings in the form of reprographic copies, dated 1909. Drawings include: fireplace details, plan of cigar and news counter, detail of kitchen fixtures and entrance to the lunch room, sections, elevations, first floor plan, and foundation plan.
