Description
Letters written by John Taggart to artist Bradford Graves discussing poetry projects, teaching, music and daily life. Also included is a small amount of correspondence between Graves and Bob Callahan and Graves and Gil Ott regarding the publication of Graves' art along with Taggart's poetry.
Background
Bradford Graves was born in Dallas, Texas in 1939. He moved to New York City in 1958, where he studied at the School of Visual Arts, the American School, and the New School. As an artist, Graves worked primarily in stone, but was also know for his drawings, including those done in collaboration with the poet John Taggart. Graves worked with Taggart, illustrating Taggart's poetry in the book Peace on Earth: Poems (1981), providing art for the John Taggart issue of Paper Air (1979), and illustrating the cover of Songs of Degrees (1994).
