The Queer CyberCenter was set up as a "physical, computer-equipped space with free public access to the public." The CyberCenter
was in part "a research project by the University of Southern California faculty members, Eric Schockman and John Waiblinger."
Their research goal was "to understand how providing free internet access to individuals who would not otherwise have access
to computers and the internet would redefine community in the digital age."
