    Biography/Administrative History

    The amateur photographer of the color slides was either two members of the Weston Family, the father Milo Higgs Weston (born 1882) or the daughter Clara M. Weston Martell (born 1918). At the time of the Golden Gate International Exposition, 1939 and 1940, the Weston family lived on Ashby Avenue in Berkeley. The family were California natives and lived in Alameda County.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    Collection of 120 Kodachrome color slides document both years 1939 and 1940 of the Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island in San Francisco. The shots are mostly exteriors of the Fair buildings including the California Building, Federal Building and Chinese Village. Interior shots are mostly of the flower show inside the Hall of Flowers. There are some shots that include attendees, a marching band around the Lake of Nations and a few night shots.
