Background
Donald M. Allen (1912-2004) was one of the most influential editors and publishers of contemporary American literature. He
was an editor at Grove Press, and later established Grey Fox Press and the Four Seasons Foundation.
Restrictions
All requests for permission to publish or quote from manuscripts must be submitted in writing to the City Archivist. Permission
for publication is given on behalf of the San Francisco Public Library as the owner of the physical items.
