Scope and Content of Collection

Railroad employees kept track of hours worked in pre-printed pocket size "timebooks." The type of information recorded varies but may include names of crew numbers for a specific train, locomotive number, total hours work, and rate of pay. Tables showing rates of pay for various jobs were frequently printed in these booklets. The Library has many blank timebooks. This collection consists of timebooks completed by various railroad employees. It is arranged by employee surname. If the employee's job title, or employer is known, it is so indicated, as are the inclusive dates.
