Abstract: The Star of Italy (built 1877; ship, 3m) certificate (SAFR 14294, HDC 86) is from Lloyd's Register of British and Foreign
Shipping. It is dated January 11, 1887. It certifies that the STAR OF ITALY is from Belfast, bound for Australia, is "in a
good and efficient state, and fit to carry dry and perishable cargo...", W.J. Shaw is master, and the ship weighs 1571 tons.
The ship was surveyed in London. This collection has been processed and is open for use without restriction.

Historical or Biographical Note
According to The Marine Digest from March 21, 1942, the STAR OF ITALY, a 1640-ton iron bark, was built as a full-rigged ship
at Belfast by Harland & Wolff for Corry in 1877.
