This file contains a letter from Estelle H. Fennel to the Library regarding research on her father, Rufus Rowe Haines, a typed excerpt on Haines from Historical and Biographical Record of Los Angeles and Vicinity by J. M. Guinn, and a copy of a photograph of Haines.
Background
Rufus Rowe Haines (1826 - 1908), as an employee of Western Union Telegraph Company, was responsible for estalishing telegraph communication between British Columbia and Southern California.
