Biographical / Historical
Khemosabi was a bay Arabian stallion born in 1967. He won many major Arabian horse show awards including U.S. National Champion
Halter stallion (1973), U.S. and Canadian National Champion in Western Pleasure (1976), and Canadian National Champion Halter
stallion (1976). He was also awarded the highest honor from the Arabian Horse Association: Legion of Masters.
Khemosabi was bred by Dr. Bert and Ruth Husband and born in the Husbands' backyard in Whittier, CA. He was sired by the stallion
Amerigo and out of the mare Jurneeka. His pedigree traces back to the horse Raseyn, one of the first horses cereal mogul W.K.
Kellogg purchased for his Arabian horse ranch in Pomona, CA. Raseyn was foaled in 1923 and bred by Lady Wentworth of the
Crabbet Arabian Stud in England. He was imported into the United States by W.K. Kellogg in 1926.
B. Paul Husband is an equine and tax attorney and son of Dr. Bert and Ruth Husband, the breeders of Khemosabi. When Khemosabi
was still rather young, Paul wrote a cartoon series in which Khemosabi wears a Lone Ranger mask and has a redheaded companion
who was based on Paul's mother, Ruth.
Khemosabi died in 2001 at the age of thirty-four.
