    Scope and Content

    43 World War I era Allied maps primarily of Northern France, as well as Belgium and Switzerland. Some feature annotations and additional information as it was acquired from opposition maps.

    Special Collections has a large number of collections related to World War I, which include photograph albums, stereoviews, diaries, and other documents. Collections that feature maps include:
    1. Great War Collection, ca. 1910-1922 [bulk dates 1914-1918]. Much of the material in the collection relates to British servicemen and units, but Americans, Australians, and some Germans also are represented. Included are diaries, correspondence, documents, maps, photographs, reports, and some printed material. The approximately 2,000 photographs and picture postcards (loose and in albums and scrapbooks) include many images of France, but also other areas such as Egypt, England, German South West Africa, Iraq, and Palestine. (Bernath Mss 20).
    2. Louis deKeyser Belden Papers, ca. 1916-1924. The collection contains correspondence, documents, maps, photographs, and ephemera of Louis deKeyser Belden, a surgeon and captain in the Medical Corps during WWI. (Bernath Mss 25).
