Scope and Contents

This collection contains one carbon copy letter from Bob [unknown last name] of the United States Merchant Marines to his family during the Second World War II. The letter is dated September 11, 1944 and includes a photocopy of the same letter.
In this correspondence, Bob expresses his worry and concern for a possible lack of public support, for a continued war effort in the Pacific, after the upcoming victory in Europe. He also discusses his admiration of the Marines, still stationed in the Pacific Theater and urges a renewed effort to support and supply these men.
Of interest is Bob's description of Japanese soldiers and their fanatical resolve to fight the U.S. Marines.
