Abstract: The Lesbian Feminist Publications Collection consists of a variety of lesbian feminist publications, including periodicals,
anthologies, bibliographies, fiction and non-fiction books, poetry, bookstore bookmarks, event pamphlets, games, and a VHS
tape.
The collection is open for research.

Scope and Content of Collection
This Lesbian Feminist Publications Collection, 1967-2004 (bulk 1980-1990), consists of publications that include periodicals,
anthologies, bibliographies, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and miscellaneous items which include bookmarks, games, event pamphlets,
and audiovisual media.
The periodicals contains some of the cultural milestones in the lesbian publishing world, including "The Ladder," the first
widely distributed lesbian periodical in the United States. Other printed materials written or edited by lesbian women are
also represented. Included are American lesbian mystery genre authors Katherine V. Forrest and Claire McNab; the "Queen of
Lesbian Romance" Karin Kallmaker; and African American poet Pat Parker.
Some of the miscellaneous items include trivia card games that focus on historical knowledge of lesbian feminist movements
and women’s history, as well as bookmarks from independent and female focused bookstores in California. Miscellaneous items
also include event pamphlets for women centered celebrations and the VHS tape "Better Than Chocolate."
The Lesbian Feminist Publications Collection is arranged into three series and organized alphabetically by format, author,
and date: Series I. Periodicals, 1967-2004 (bulk 1980-1990); Series II. Printed Materials, 1972-2000 (bulk 1980-1990); and
Series III. Miscellaneous, 1977-1999.
