Joined a company from Columbus and set out overland from St. Joseph, Mo in May of 1849. Arrived California in Sept 1849. Mined on the Feather River and Parks Bar on the Yuba River. Elected to State Legislation from Yuba County in 1855. Joined the California Stage Company in 1858. Moved to San Francisco in 1866. Worked with the US Mint until his death on Aug 21, 1887.

    Handwritten and leather-bound memoriam to Edward Shea Gaver. It discusses why he was such an important part of the Society of California Pioneers. It also includes a biography of his life. He was born on January 5, 1831 in Columbus, Ohio. Later on in his life, he moved to California when gold was discovered. He heard fortune was in El Dorado before he decided to leave St. Joseph, Missouri and emmigrated to California in 1849 in a very long journey that would take months to complete. That is when he would become a life member of the Society of California Pioneers. He passed away on August 21, 1887. This memoriam was written by members of the Society of California Pioneers: Mr. Lathan, Mr. Hastings, Mr. Vandercook.

    Edward Shea Gaver was a life member of the Society of California Pioneers. Born January 5, 1831 in Columbus, Ohio. Joined a company from Columbus and set out overland from St. Joseph, Mo in May of 1849. Arrived California in Sept 1849. Mined on the Feather River and Parks Bar on the Yuba River. Elected to State Legislation from Yuba County in 1855. Joined the California Stage Company in 1858. Moved to San Francisco in 1866. Worked with the US Mint until his death on Aug 21, 1887.
