Scope and Contents

Contains memoranda, correspondence, and reports on the CSU Chile program at the Pontificia Catolica Universidad de Chile. These documents chronicle the development of the Chile program and the experiences of students.

China 1988-2016

Scope and Contents

Folder 1 focuses on the expansion of the International Programs to include China, as well as the finances needed to help students continue studying at the universities.
Folder 2 includes year-end reports, trip reports, and memoranda discussing the development and academic structure of the China program.
Folder 3 contains program development reposts, syllabi, academic grading structures, and resident handbooks aimed to help resident directors plan for a year overseas in Beijing.

Denmark 1990-2004

Scope and Contents

Contains correspondence, memoranda, and reports on the CSU IP program at DIS Copenhagen. Subjects include a student petition to end the Danish language class requirement, a detailed description of the University of Copenhagen, and a year-end report on classes during the 2004-2005 academic year.

France 1979-2015

Scope and Contents

Folder 1 of 3 contains a yearbook, a booklet of poems/stories written by students, the mission statement of MICEFA (Mission Interuniversitaire de Coordination des Echanges) and their goals for students, final reports, and a 1993 newsletter from students who enrolled in the program in 1973-74 (Note: This folder is restricted due to student information).
Folder 2 of 3 contains year end reports, as well as correspondence related to the change in management for the CSU IP lead and a faculty workshop abroad. Also provides instructions for students preparing to depart for France.
Folder 3 of 3 discusses the possible effects of ending French language class requirements, issues that have led to staff resignations, and the new head of MICEFA.

Germany 1987-2019

Scope and Contents

Folder 1 of 3 contains photo albums of students who studied at Universität Tübingen, as well as correspondence and memoranda discussing the international program in Germany as well as the Committee for Science, Research and Art of the Parliament of the State of Baden-Württemberg's visit to the CSU Chancellor's Office.
Folder 2 of 3 includes corresponcdence regarding financial contributions to the program, problems with changes in staffing, and the cooperative relationship between the CSU System and the German Federal State of Baden-Württemberg. Also includes year-end reports and other informational reports written in English and German.
Folder 3 of 3 contains student surveys and responses regarding their experiences studying in Germany, reports on the academic exchange program (written in both English and German), and correspondence regarding hiring staff and issues with housing German students in the United States.

Ghana 2006-2015

Scope and Contents

Contains documentation formalizing the agreement between the CSU and the University of Ghana, Legon, as well as correspondence, a risk assessment inventory list, a crime and safety report, and drafts of the program academic structure.

Israel 1985-2002

Scope and Contents

Documents pertaining to the Israel program (located at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem). Includes correspondence responding to the Gulf crisis and its impact on student welfare, leading to the closing of the program in Spring 1991. Correspondence and year-end reports after the program's resumption in 1993 highlight continuing security concerns.

Italy Program 1986-2019

Scope and Contents

Folder 1 documents growing issues with the growing International Program in Italy, reviews from teachers and students, and possible solutions created to address the increasing popularity of the Italy program.
Folder 2 contains teaching guides, security measures due to a possible bomb threat, and Issue dies down and discussion of reforming the teaching system in Florence.
Folder 3 contains a year end report, a student handbook (including student reviews and budget management-related materials), and a report about the CSU IP, including a breakdown of the program and advice for its future development.
Folder 4 includes memoranda, reports, a survey of student experiences in the Italy program, a participant guide to help prepare students for their travels, program development reports, and a tour schedule for an architecture site visit.
Folder 5 contains a document on personal data security, program development reports and reviews, predeparture guides for resident directors, and a proposal for a new concentration in Classics.

Japan 1984-2013

Scope and Contents

Folder 1 of 2 contains reviews from students and professors, a history of the CSU IP in Tokyo, year-end reports from 2000-2006, and a report detailing the benefits of studying abroad.
Folder 2 of 2 contains year end reports and resident director reports, greetings to the new dean, and a paper reporting multiple cases of sexual harassment for students living in dorms with families that were open to hosting students.

Mexico 1992-2007

Scope and Contents

Folder 1 contains reports from the BCLAD (Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development) teacher education in Mexico.
Folder 2 includes a continuation of the 1997 report of the ongoing BCLAD program, as well as a memorandum on program development in Latin America and a predeparture planning guide for resident directors.
Folder 3 contains a report on the CSU Undergraduate Program and BCLAD Credential Program in Querétaro, Mexico for the 2004-2005 academic year.
Folder 4 contains a condensed version of the 2004-2005 BCLAD report, a questionnaire surveying experience in the Fall 2005 Mexico program, a review of the CSU Study Abroad Program in Mexico, and a program implementation timeline for resident directors.

Spain 1972-2014

Scope and Contents

Folder 1 contains documents and correspondence related to evaluations of the CSU international programs in Granada and Madrid.
Folder 2 contains memoranda on year-end reports, completed student surveys on their experience in the Granada and Madrid programs, and an International Programs Review conducted by the Ad Hoc Subcommittee of Academic and Fiscal Affairs Committee.
Folder 3 contains a report outlining the significant events and changes in Spain for the 2003-2004 academic year, memoranda regarding the Association of American Programs in Spain (AAPS or APUNE) report, a Resident Director guide, and correspondence related to year-end reports and program development reports.

General Information on International Programs 1961-2017

Scope and Contents

Folder 1 contains staff organization structures within the CSU Office of International Programs, minutes of CSC Trustee meetings, memoranda, a report on the status and prospects of study abroad programs, a budget for the International Programs (IP) department, a staff paper discussing alternatives to the model of the International Programs, a report of the Academic Council on International Programs (ACIP) investigating complaints against the IP.
Folder 2 contains statements and correspondence regarding issues with the ACIP, memoranda and reports discussing the admission of foreign students into the IP, a detailed description on the student selection process, and the Guidelines for the Establishment, Administration, and Evaluation of Study-Abroad Credit Programs for CSU Students.
Folder 3 contains a 1987 status report on the Office of International Programs, memoranda concerning campus-operated overseas programs, as well as agendas and minutes for various meetings, including the Academic Senate. Also includes memoranda regarding the state and legality of overseas programs in the CSU and a report on the CSU Office of International Programs organization, policies, and functions.
Folder 4 contains memoranda regarding staff structure and staffing levels, various correspondence, campus delegation reports, documents concerning the reorganization of ACIP, a report detailing possible alternatives to international education, and a requested update of administrative organization within the IP office.
Folder 5 contains a report on the developments, current condition, and future prospects of the CSU IP, proposed changes to the ACIP by-laws, memoranda related to the Bilingual Credential Program in Mexico, a review of the Office of International Programs, and memoranda regarding the IP budget.
Folder 6 largely includes memoranda concerning the 1996-97 International Programs student fee. Also contains the CSU International Programs: Amendment of Trustees Policy Statement presented at the CSU Board of Trustees meeting, a proposal for faculty participation in international programs, memoranda proposing a new program in Latin America, a paper on the "Academic Integrity of Study Abroad," correspondence and memoranda related to health and safety guidelines for study abroad students, and the announcement appointing Leo Van Cleve as Director of International Programs.
Folder 7 largely contains reports and memoranda related to the establishment of a Program Review Committee (PRC) in ACIP. Also contains documents related to third-party program providers, a furlough plan for CSUEU employees, and a report on a global competencies course at CSULB.
