    Abstract: The Michel Oren collection on the Marxist Literary Group and the Schizo-Culture conference contains 21 lectures given by Fredric Jameson, Stanley Aronowitz, and Terry Eagleton at the 1977 Summer Institute of the Marxist Literary Group of the Modern Language Association held in St. Cloud, Minnesota. These lectures, on 25 cassettes, were recorded by Michel Oren who attended the Institute as a graduate student. Other material from the 1977 Summer Institute includes lecture outlines, prospectuses, lists of participants, and planning for furture Summer Institutes. The collection also consists of materials, such as programs, abstracts, workshop handouts, conference papers, and correspondence, from and about the Schizo-Culture conference at Columbia University in November 1975.

    Collection Scope and Content Summary

    The Michel Oren collection on the Marxist Literary Group and the Schizo-Culture conference contains 21 lectures given by Fredric Jameson, Stanley Aronowitz, and Terry Eagleton at the 1977 Summer Institute of the Marxist Literary Group of the Modern Language Association held in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The collection also consists of materials, such as programs, abstracts, workshop handouts, conference papers, and correspondence, from and about the Schizo-Culture conference at Columbia University in November 1975. The Schizo-Culture conference, at which Foucault, Lyotard, Deleuze, and Guattari read papers, marked the second incursion of French poststructuralist theory in the US. Oren attened the conference as a graduate student.
