Biographical / Historical
The Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages consists of five academic departments
(Comparative Literature, French and Italian, German Studies, Slavic Languages and
Literatures, and Spanish and Portuguese) as well as the Language Center, which oversees
language instruction at Stanford. All the departments of the division offer academic
programs leading to B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees.
